Goose Hollow Furniture, 1405 Hwy. 45 N., will open its second location in Columbus.
The furniture store has been open in Columbus for 36 years. The second store will offer more furniture, mattresses and accessories. It will also feature a larger showcase room than the store on Highway 45. The new store is slated to open by Memorial Day in the old Fred’s location in Towne Square shopping center on 18th Avenue.
Goose Hollow Furniture is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Columbus is also getting a new tanning salon and T-shirt shop.
The Purple Ribbon, which opened in Caledonia nearly a year ago, will be closer to town at 1824 Short Main St.
Owner Melanie Barham said the shop offers tanning beds, vinyl T-shirts, decals and other gift shop items.
The Purple Ribbon got its name from Barham’s granddaughter who was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and epilepsy. The color ribbon for this diagnosis is purple, dawning the name of the gift shop. Barham said she hopes the shop will open in June.
The shop will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Over in Starkville, kids will soon have an opportunity to play on their own version of Main Street.
In June, Alexis Bullock will open Little E’s Indoor Playcenter, giving parents the opportunity to boost their children’s imagination.
Located at 821 C Hwy 12., the playcenter features a Main Street center, with police stations, hospitals, city and planning, a bank, and more. Bullock said her goal is to give kids a safe place to be kids.
“It’s an opportunity for them to come and play and just use their imagination,” Bullock said.
Bullock is already booking birthday parties online, so check out her website at www.starkvilleplaygrounds.com
Once open, hours will be Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
