STARKVILLE — Former Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald has found his new football home.
Fitzgerald — one of five former MSU players to join XFL rosters over the past few days — has been added to the St. Louis BattleHawks roster.
The SEC’s all-time rushing leader at quarterback, the Richmond Hill, Georgia, native went unselected in the 2019 NFL draft but spent time on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad during over the past year. He was released on Oct. 8.
Also joining Fitzgerald in St. Louis is former Ole Miss signal caller Jordan Ta’amu. Ta’amu was originally signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent but was released August 31.
Other MSU players on XFL rosters include linebacker Beniquez Brown (Dallas Renegades), center Dillon Day (Seattle Dragons) and defensive linemen Johnthan Calvin (Houston Roughnecks) and Nick James (Houston Roughnecks).
