Eight residents and three employees at Montgomery Gardens Senior Living west of Starkville have tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus, according to a Wednesday press release from the facility’s parent company, Americare Senior Living.
All eight residents have been moved to the facility’s new COVID-19 care wing, where they are separated by a physical barrier from the rest of the residents. The employees in the COVID-19 wing use separate medical equipment, wear personal protective gear and do not enter the rest of the building, the press release states.
All Montgomery Gardens residents are quarantined in their own rooms and have been since June 12, when the first employee tested positive for COVID-19. Employees wear N95 face masks at all times and monitor patients for COVID-19 symptoms every four hours, the release states.
Americare canceled group activities in its senior living facilities and prohibited outside visitors on March 13. The company did not allow interviews from reporters.
