Two people, one a juvenile, have been arrested for a robbery at a South Columbus home Saturday night.
Taveon Macon, 18, and the juvenile have both been charged with armed robbery, according to Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton. The suspects were in custody eight minutes after police were called.
According to a Columbus Police Department press release, the suspects arrived at a home on Sixth Street South at about 10 p.m. Saturday armed with weapons and demanding money. The victim was not injured.
“I want to commend the excellent work of our officers and the 911 dispatchers for the apprehension of two suspects eight minutes after the call went out,” Shelton said in the press release. “The victims on the scene provided an excellent description, and the responding officers got the information to others quickly. Per our standard procedure, other officers began searching the area and captured the suspects about five blocks away.”
The victim knew the suspects, who had previously cut grass at the home, the release said.
Macon is in custody at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. His bond has not been set. LCADC administrators were unable to provide The Dispatch with a mugshot of Macon by press time.
