If you’re stressed and “knead” to get those knots out, there’s a new place in town to help you with just that.
Southern Kneads, 1920 Hwy. 45 N., Suite 5, just opened this week. Licensed massage therapist, Markey Wright-Dillard, said she’s simply taking a “leap of faith and doing what she loves.”
For now, Southern Kneads is only taking appointments for those looking for 30- to 90-minute therapeutic massages.
Markey-Dillard also offers ear candling for those terrible sinus issues we’re all experiencing during this Mississippi weather change, as well as exfoliating body scrubs.
“As a licensed massage therapist I always wanted to eventually own my own little place and offer products and services to my clients,” Wright-Dillard said. “My clients’ well being is my No. 1 priority and I look forward to seeing what’s in store for Southern Kneads LLC.”
Also in Columbus, a local storage unit location is beginning its expansion.
Union Climate Control Storage, 106 Yorkville Road E., announced that RV, boat and trailer storage will be coming in about a month.
Owner Andrew Benton bought the building on Yorkville Road about a year ago and completed the 20 climate-controlled storage units about six months ago.
Now, with the addition of the 50 outdoor storage units, the Union Storage project is nearly complete.
“All of this was in the plan,” Benton said. “We have plans to purchase more properties but have nothing official yet. We have other residential rental places, but this is a pretty solid business. We like it a lot.”
Want to see a movie but social distancing has you down? Malco Movie Theaters announced it’s expanding private movie screening to our Columbus location.
For $100, you can reserve a private screening of some stellar classics such as “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back,” “Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Scream” and more. For $150, you can view a range of new movies including “Honest Thief,” “Tenet” and “The Kid Detective.”
Check out the Malco website to view the full list of films available to reserve a cinema all to yourself.
Moving over to West Point, there’s a new consignment shop coming to town.
For Kimberly Chase and Kathy Williams, things just kind of fell together.
For nearly two decades, Anita Chase owned and operated a consignment shop named Just for Ladies. Nearing retirement, Gates reached out to Williams and Chase to see if they were interested in having their own store.
“Of course we jumped at the chance to move from customers to owners,” Chase said. “Kathy and I have been best friends for over 30 years and have always dreamed of opening a consignment store. Raising families, we both understand the need a consignment store can fill in our community. Anita passing the torch to us is Heaven sent. We get to fulfill our dream while continuing hers.”
So Just for Ladies will transition to Point City Consignment at 5761 Hwy. 45 Alt. S starting in early November.
According to Chase not much will change when the store-switch happens, they will even continue Gates’ embroidery services.
Point City Consignment will have its grand opening Nov. 6 from 4-7 p.m. You can shop the store browsing consignment clothes, accessories, household items, shoes, antiques and more Wednesdays through Saturdays 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
