A man was shot dead early Tuesday morning in eastern Oktibbeha County, Capt. Brett Watson of the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office said.
Ronald C. Grayer, 27, died in the shooting being investigated as a homicide, according to Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt.
OCSO responded at about 1 a.m. to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Blair Road and Sarah Lane, between Blackjack and Artesia roads. Emergency medical services pronounced Grayer dead at the scene from gunshot wounds, Watson said.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation helped OCSO process the crime scene, Watson said. OCSO is investigating the incident and did not have a suspect in custody by press time.
Deputies recovered “a significant amount of marijuana from a residence associated with the scene,” Watson said.
