GREENWOOD — Austin Braddock delivered a strong pitching performance and the Heritage Academy baseball team had two solid hitting games Thursday in a doubleheader sweep of Pillow Academy.
In his first time on the mound in more than a year, Braddock allowed three hits in five innings in a 12-0 victory in game one.
Braddock had three hits, including a home run, while Tyler Farnham and Clark Atkins each had two hits in an 11-1 victory in game two.
Braddock also had a home run in the opener to help the Patriots improve to 6-0 and 2-0 in the conference
Parker Dunaway had three hits, Farnham had two doubles, M.J. Hamrick had two hits, including a home run, and Matt Sykes had two doubles and four RBIs.
In game two, Camp Pittman started and allowed five hits in 3 2/3 innings. Hunter Ward came in in relief and worked out of a bases-loaded jam, and went the rest of the game.
Heritage Academy will play St. Joe”s at 11 a.m. Monday at a tournament in Jackson. It will make up a game against Pillow Academy that was rained out earlier this week at 3:45 p.m. Monday in Jackson. That game will count as a conference game and toward the seeding at the tournament.
n Washington School 16-7, Starkville Academy 1-6: At Greenville, Steven Robertson and Hunter Bolin each had two hits for the Volunteers in game two of their doubleheader.
Ian Tharp and Ryan Mann suffered the losses as Starkville Academy slipped to 3-3 and 0-2 in the conference.
Softball
n New Hope 4, South Panola 0: At Columbus, Lauren Holifield earned the victory and went 2-for-2 with a double to help the Lady Trojans improve to 5-1.
Anna Holley had a sacrifice and an RBI, and D.J. Sanders and Kaitlin Bradley (double, two RBIs) were 1-for-3.
New Hope will play today at Columbus.
