TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Crimson Tide (51-12) beat the Washington Huskies (39-14), 5-2 Saturday to win the 2016 NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Super Regional being held at Rhoads Stadium this weekend and advance to its Southeastern Conference record 11th Women’s College World Series.
Reagan Dykes hit a home run in the top of the third inning, driving in two runs to put the Tide up 3-0 before an Andrea Hawkins single drove in Demi Turner to up the Tide’s lead to 4-0. The Huskies responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third, where the score remained until the top of the sixth when Hawkins sprinted home to notch an insurance run and put the final score at 5-2.
Alexis Osorio earned the win for the Crimson Tide, going to 19-6 on the season while Washington’s Taran Alvelo was tagged with the loss, dropping to 18-7 on the year.
