McADAMS — The West Lowndes High School football team made the most of its final non-region tuneup, rolling to a 52-0 victory against McAdams on Friday night.
Senior Marcus Farmer led a balance offensive attack with 224 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. Farmer score twice on the ground and caught a touchdown pass from Lemerrius Fair.
Kemario Evans and Quinshawn Lucious also had rushing touchdowns for the Panthers. Lucious scored on a 10-yard run.
Senior linebacker Zach Williams paced the defensive effort with two fumble return touchdowns. The Panthers also had a safety.
West Lowndes (2-1) will open Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 1A, Region 1 play Friday night at Biggersville.
n Aberdeen 44, Amory 34: At Aberdeen, the Bulldogs grabbed their first victory of the year while making it eight straight wins in the A-Game rivalry.
“Our team grew up tonight,” Aberdeen coach Eric Spann said. “We have already faced a lot of adversity this year. The players just kept battling, stuck with it, and found a way to get a big win in a rivalry game. Hopefully, this effort will carry over and it will help our confidence.”
Aberdeen scored the final 30 points to erase a 34-14 halftime deficit. The comeback began in the third quarter on a 12-yard run by Dajoun Rogers. Fred Fields then scored on a 2-yard quarterback keeper. The Bulldogs then took the lead for good on a 41-yard run by Cameron Braylock.
The comeback was helped in large part by a muffed kickoff return by Amory after the first score of the third quarter.
Fred Fields hit Isiah McMillian for a 20-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The duo also had a 74-yard scoring strike together in the first half.
Aberdeen (1-2) received a 5-yard rushing touchdown from Jordan Gillespie in the first quarter.
Fields was 13 of 21 for 290 yards.
Aberdeen will travel to Calhoun City on Friday night.
n Riverdale Academy 42, Central Academy 14: At Macon, the Vikings had a couple of big plays but not enough offense to grab the first victory of the season in Eight-Man Mississippi Association of Independent Schools action.
Central Academy (0-2) scored both touchdowns on kickoff returns. William Dawkins returned a short kick for a 45-yard touchdown, while Preston Dawkins had an 80-yard kickoff return for touchdown. Jack VanDevender had a two-point conversion run.
Central Academy will open District 2 play Friday night at Hebron Christian.
n In other MAIS action Friday night, Columbus Christian fell to 1-2 by dropping a 35-0 decision at Sylva Bay Academy.
Columbus Christian will play host to Tupelo Christian Prep on Friday night.
Hebron Christian (0-3) remained winless with a 41-0 home loss to Delta Academy.
Hebron Christian will play host to Central Academy in Eight-man District 2 action Friday night.
n Victory Christian 60, Unity Christian 0: At Columbus, Jordan Payne rushed for two scores and caught another touchdown pass Friday night to lead the Eagles (2-1) to their non-conference victory.
Payne scored on a 13-yard run and on an 18-yard run. Gavin Forrester, who was 3 of 6 for 51 yards, had seven carries for 67 yards. Garrett Anthony led the Eagles with seven carries for 93 yards. He added a 32-yard rushing score.
Preston Kinard had five carries for 32 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown run. Marlon Clay had two carries for 32 yards, and Kenny Collier had two carries for 15 yards. Collier had a 7-yard touchdown run and a 31-yard interception return for a score.
Kody Anthony’s one catch went for 29 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 55-yard kick return for a touchdown. Payne had one catch for 16 yards, and Collier had one catch for 6 yards.
Payne led the way with seven tackles. Michael Tate and Clay had five tackles.
Victory Christian will travel to Meridian next week to take on Russell Christian.
