NOTASULGA, Ala. — Sulligent High School made it two for two so far in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) playoffs with a 35-25 win over Reeltown in Class 2A action Friday night.
Sulligent (11-1) will play host to Fyffe (12-1) in third-round action Friday night.
For Sulligent, Tyreke Metcalfe ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns. Metcalfe sored on a pair of 3-yard runs and a 7-yard run.
Jaron Scott completed an 8-yard touchdown pass to C.J. McLemore and also scored on a 2-yard run.
Lamar County 17, Ranburne 7: At Ranburne, Ala., the Bulldogs used a sturdy defense to win in the second round of the AHSAA playoffs.
Lamar County (8-4) will play host to Lanett (12-0) in third-round action Friday night.
Taye Buchanan ran 27 times for 198 yards to lead the Bulldogs. Buchanan scored on touchdown runs of 3 and 70 yards.
C.J. Wise had three catches for 31 yards.
South Lamar 21, Cedar Bluff 14: At Cedar Bluff, Ala., the Stallions led from start to finish in a thrilling AHSAA Class 1A second-round playoff win.
South Lamar (9-3) will platy host to Addison (10-2) in the third-round play Friday night.
Jarrett Bryant got the Stallions going in the right direction with a 75-yard punt return to start the scoring. Jack Dowdle scored on a 1-yard run, while Herachio Washington scored on a 15-yard run.
Pickens County 51, Spring Garden 9: At Reform, Ala., the Tornadoes kept rolling in the AHSAA Class 1A playoffs.
Pickens County (10-2) will play at Cherokee (9-3) in third-round action Friday night.
The Tornadoes forced six turnovers, while scoring on two of them, to pace the win.
Kareem Spruill had a 70-yard interception return for a score, while Aaron Billups had a 42-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Aljaron Edwards threw for 262 yards and four touchdowns. Elliott Petty had six receptions for 181 yards, with three touchdowns. All three touchdown plays went for 45 yards.
Luverne 34, Aliceville 30: At Aliceville, Ala., the Tornadoes were eliminated in AHSAA Class 2A playoff action.
Zavien Wilkins rushed 31 times for 173 yards to lead Aliceville (6-5). Wilkins scored on second-half runs of 14 and 25 yards.
Kavon McGraw added 11 rushes for 111 yards, with a passing score and a rushing score. The passing play was a 29-yard pass to Andrevious Johnson.
Elijah Plott led the defense for Aliceville with eight total tackles.
Mobile Christian 24, Gordo 0: At Mobile, the Greenwave (10-2) saw its season end with a second-round AHSAA Class 3A playoff loss on the road.
