STARKVILLE — Mississippi State junior guard Quinndary Weatherspoon announced Friday he has declared for the NBA draft but that he won’t hire an agent, which means he maintains his eligibility if he chooses to return to school.
Weatherspoon’s announcement comes two days after MSU sophomore guard Lamar Peters entered the NBA draft and one day after his brother, MSU freshman guard Nick Weatherspoon, did the same. Peters and Nick Weatherspoon also said they won’t hire an agent.
Quinndary Weatherspoon, a second-team All-Southeastern Conference pick, led MSU in scoring (14.4 points per game) and was second in assists (3.3 per game). He also averaged six rebounds per game and shot 48.4 percent from the field, which was best among MSU guards who took at least 75 shots.
If Quinndary Weatherspoon chooses to return to MSU for his senior season, he must file that decision by May 30.
