The parade will wait a day.
With more storms predicted for today, the championship parade for the women’s basketball team from the Mississippi University for Women and the boys basketball team from Heritage Academy will be held Tuesday instead of Monday.
The parade is now set to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 3rd Street and Main Street in Columbus.
The W’s women’s basketball team is celebrating its national championship in its first year together. The Owls won the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association title.
Heritage Academy’s boys won the Overall State Championship.
Following the parade’s conclusion at the intersection of 5th and Main streets, presentations will be made by Columbus Mayor Robert Smith and W President Nora Miller.
All events are open to the public.
