Averi Sanders, a sophomore from West Lowndes High School, scored a pair of individual silver medals Friday in the Mississippi State High School Activities Association (MHSAA) track and field championships.
She finished second in both the girls 100- and 200-yard runs in the Class 1A meet.
Sanders ran the 100 in 12.85 seconds, finishing half a second behind winner Tytianna Porter, a senior from East Marion. She finished second in the 200 with a time of 27.19 seconds, just 17-hundredths of a second behind Zakiya Dotson of Ethel.
West Lowndes finished second in the 4×100 girls relay, which was won by East Marion.
Bad weather halted the Class 2A-4A-6A championships scheduled for Saturday in Pearl. They were rescheduled for Monday.
