A late home run from Hayden Leatherwood carried the Ole Miss baseball team to a 4-3 win over Southern Miss on Tuesday in Oxford.
The junior cracked a two-run, pinch-hit homer to right in the bottom of the seventh to put the Rebels ahead, and Ole Miss (7-1) held on to win its seventh straight game.
Will McGillis had three hits for the Golden Eagles (6-2), including a solo home run. He drove in two runs.
Tyler Keenan went 2 for 4 with an RBI for Ole Miss, which will open play in the Keith LeClair Classic — hosted by East Carolina — by playing High Point at 11 a.m. Friday in Greenville, North Carolina.
Southern Miss will face Valparaiso in the Lake Area Classic at 2 p.m. Friday in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
