Mississippi State’s Reggie Perry dominated the Southeastern Conference for most of the 2019-2020 season, and the sophomore forward was rewarded for it Tuesday by the league office.
Perry was selected to the all-SEC first team by SEC coaches after averaging 17.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. His 17 double-doubles led the SEC.
Meanwhile, senior guard Tyson Carter also took home hardware, being named the SEC sixth man of the year. Carter, who played in 31 games and started 16 of them, averaged 13.9 points per game and shot 40 percent from the field. It is the first time in program history a player has been named sixth man of the year.
Kentucky’s John Calipari was tabbed the league’s coach of the year after leading the Wildcats to an SEC championship, while Immanuel Quickley won SEC Player of The Year after averaging 16.1 points per game, while shooting 41,7 percent from the floor and 92.3 percent from the charity stripe.
Potential NBA lottery pick Anthony Edwards was selected as SEC freshman of the year and Tennessee’s Yves Pons was given SEC defensive player of the year honors.
