BIRMINGHAM — GTR Global Industrial Aerospace Park has garnered a significant honor by being named as one of the Ten Sites in the South That Will Eventually Land the Big One, announced by Southern Business & Development magazine in this month”s issue. SB&D is the leading publication promoting corporate investment and job creation in the American South, the world”s fourth largest economy. This list recognizes industrial sites in the South that are most likely to attract a company creating a large number of jobs and bringing sizable corporate investment.
“This publicly-owned, shovel-ready megasite is like none other. It has been carefully planned to include mega-amenities, and the extensive development includes $100 million spent on infrastructure since 2003,” explains SB&D”s publisher Mike Randle. “And with the broad regional support they have, it”s just a matter of time before we hear of yet another big announcement from Columbus Lowndes Development Link.”
The GTR Global Industrial Aerospace Park is 2,500 acres, publicly controlled, and adjacent to the Golden Triangle Regional Airport, Mississippi”s third largest commercial airport. Surrounded by four Mississippi counties and three Alabama counties, 50 percent of the site is the Crossroads Megasite, a TVA-certified megasite. These seven county governments, along with the major city governments, economic and industrial development entities and educational institutions, work together to promote and support the park and its tenants.
“The surrounding Golden Triangle and west Alabama communities recognize the benefits that the aerospace park will offer them, thus bringing support of the project across county and state lines,” said Joe Higgins, CEO of the Columbus Lowndes Development Link.
Key industries in the park include Stark Aerospace, Severstal Mississippi, PACCAR Engines, Weyerhaeser, Omnova Solutions, Nammo Talley, Baldor Electric and Eka Chemicals.
