I am canceling my subscription to the newspaper. I can not stand to read it any more. My grandson, Brian, was convicted in the newspaper before his trial. I thought a person is considered innocent until PROVEN guilty. Brian did not purposely shoot his wife. It was an accident, but because of so much false media coverage prior to his trial and a change of venue not granted, Brian did not receive a fair trial here in Lowndes County.
My husband worked the Lowndes County soil all his life in order to make a living for his family. He also served out country in the United States Air Force. He has gone on to heaven now and will not have to hear his family bashed. The adverse publicity may have shortened his life. I''m trying to forgive those who have hurt all of us, but it is difficult. Thank you to all of you who have stood with us and prayed for us.

I feel no sorrow for your loss as you call it. Brian was convicted of MURDER by a jury of his peers like anyone else in this county. The fact that he beat on women all his adult life didn't help his situation. Too many females have been abused by this coward and unlike Laura Lee, they didn't lose their lives.
I hope he rots in jail for what he did to the mom of his kids. You just don't accidently shoot anyone in the head like he did. Maybe he can get some anger management in prison. Oh, I forgot, he won't need it since he's going to be in there the majority of the rest of his life.

ACCIDENTALLY! Are you kidding me?
Confused commented at 12/21/2009 3:33:00 PM:
When you intentionally point a loaded gun at someone's head and then intentionally place your finger on the trigger of that gun, you must be prepared to face the consequences of any so-called "accident" that occurs as a result of those deliberate actions. I do not ever want to "accidentally" shoot someone, therefore I do not point guns at people's heads with my finger on the trigger.

No one has passed judgement on you or your husband that has passed, and nobody is asking for forgiveness from you. Brian shot and killed Laura Lee and this verdit was agreed upon 12 citizens of lowndes county. The evidence was black and white. The verdit would be the same no matter where this case is heard. Im sorry that your family is choosing to be blind to the evidence and to Brians conviction. Im sure you would of looked upon this differently if it would have been your child that was killed. I understand he is your grandson and you love him no matter what, but dont defend his inhumane actions. Send him a letter and some socks THATS what you should do and ask god to forgive him for what he has done. Laura Lee did not deserve to be murdered and he should not be allowed freedom EVER!!!

They have to be white socks and you can only send them during a certain period of time. Also, the underwear and tshirts have to solid white also. Have fun figuring out the MDOC rules cause yo money can't buy them. Those days are over for Brian.
Glennda commented at 12/21/2009 5:21:00 PM:
It is my general belief that newspapers report the news and community happenings. I have read the stories pertaining to this case and do not see anything that was reported other than the facts of what had happened at the scene and then later the testimonies from the trial. According to the commenters on the website Brian has had a lot of trouble throughout his life. Perhaps if his family had acknowledged this he might not be where he is today. Too many times these types of families choose to cover up or over look their children's actions and often times blame others as it seems to be the case here. Grandma--the Commercial Dispatch had nothing to do with Brian taking Laura Lee's life, maybe someone needs to finally wake up and realize that it is time to start helping these peolple that have patterns of abuse and quit making excuses for them!

Facts are what convicted Brian! Shame on family members that can't see what hurt Brian caused!NO excuses will ever bring back mother of these small children! Facts!!!

Love it, BeenThereSoIKnow... Too funny... They will have plenty of time to get those MDOC rules down :)
JC commented at 12/22/2009 8:40:00 AM:
I doubt the underwear will stay solid white for long.

The facts were printed as they came out. No one judged you grandson. No one did this to your grandson he did this all to himself. What really saddens me is that his mother and other people would lie for him. It seems that the Holliman family is in denial and are looking over what he did. HE TOOK THE LIFE OF THE MOTHER OF YOUR GREAT GRAND KIDS LIFE SHE IS NOT COMING BACK. He beat her and I'm sure you guys thought it was her fault. I am going to pray for you that one day you will see the light.

Can I get an Amen from all of the above comments. I don't get how someone could be so blind to the fact that this so called "man" murdered his wife. The evidence was laid out in court and the jurors gave the verdict as they saw fit. He was proven GUILTY. Never has it entered my mind to point a loaded gun in someones face to scare them. Guns are not toys and apparently Brian was never taught that. And I am sorry that you lost your husband, but to pretty much blame the media for your husbands death. did you ever think that maybe you husband was saddened by the fact that his grandson would do such a horrific thing. That is what is wrong with the hollimans they want to blame everybody else for what brian did. It is time to take some responsibility for what he has done. I can tell you right now if the hollimans daughter's husband pointed a gun in her face and it went off it would be a completely different story, now wouldnt it. He killed somebody, he was proven guilty, and now is in jail....GET OVER IT and get on with your life..

First off, AMEN!
He got what he deserved. Accident?-think NOT.. And it's pretty sad not to think this poor man in heaven (rest his soul) did not grieve the fact his grandson was a cold-murderer. Did any of Laura Lee's family ever get an appology for the so-called accident?-doubtful. I hope he has a great time with the knowledge everyday of his miserable existence, exactly what he did do to this poor mother and her kids! Poor Poor Hollimans!! I believe there is further justice to be done--Purgery anyone?
Oh and my condolences go to the Imes Family for loosing that whopping $10 a month.. :(

I have sat here, reading everyone's comments and feel I must point out something that has been missed (accidentally, I'm sure). That is Brian boy is in the best place in the world for anger management. I'm sure that there are more than a few fellow inmates that would treasure giving him an attitude adjustment. And Oh, before I forget, if he accidentally drops his soap, the best thing to do is leave it on the floor, and get as far away from it as he can. Maybe granny should keep paying her $10 a month, just in case he forgets and she can read about it on the front page............
Sallymae commented at 12/23/2009 7:32:00 AM:
When has it EVER been that someone points a loaded gun in someone elses face and it goes off "accidently"? I can tell you. NEVER!
Madam you are in total denial to think this even if it is your beloved grandson.
One question to you. If by chance Brian had served Laura Lee with divorce papers and she was enraged by this and she was just trying to scare him and the gun "accidentaly" went off in his face would you truly in your heart defend her the same way you are defending him?
I don't think so!
Brian was a bully and he took the life of another.
He should never get out of prison for this heinous crime he committed! Accept the fact that your grandson is an EVIL man and childish bully that the family name or money can't support that weak backbone of his anymore! The irony of it all now is he isn't going to be the biggest bully anymore. Hee Hee

Do yall understand that you are attacking a poor woman who was not the one to pull that trigger and take a life. She is his grandson, lets all have a little friggin Christmas spirit and pray for her family and really he got what he deserved. justice was served to Laura Lee's family so let it rest and do not sit here and demise this womans character even more just because she loves her own flesh and blood, any one of you would also take up for a family member who did something wrong. take a walk in her shoes and try and be humane.... idiots of columbus, hell if i were her i would leave having so many people against me for what my grandson did and was CONVICTED of.....
TD commented at 12/23/2009 4:21:00 PM:
I guess it's easier to be disappointed in the media coverage and blame them than your grandson.
Bubba Gump commented at 12/26/2009 10:16:00 AM:
I don't see where this continued attack of his family serves a purpose. The lady is mistaken based on her perception of her grandson, but the evidence and his history, as well as motive, showed otherwise.
I hate this happened to Laura. She certainly didn't deserve it, but there is nothing that can be done about it now except what has been done in court.
Let it go.

Don't worry yourself about trying to forgive those who call your grandson a murderer...We don't need your forgiveness! Get over yourself!!!
