ABERDEEN — A 50-year-old man was found dead of natural causes, with heat a contributing cause, Tuesday in Monroe County.
Charles Strawbridge, of 22187 Highway 45 N., was found on a couch in his house by a Monroe County sheriff”s deputy at 6:45 p.m., about three days after he died, said county Coroner Alan Gurley.
The air conditioning unit was functioning but was not turned on at the time he was found, Gurley said. Chronic medical problems could also have contributed to his death.
Three Mississippi residents have died of heat stroke since temperatures climbed past 100 degrees in parts of the state.
Aberdeen resident Earnestine Fields, 81, died Saturday on the back porch of a relative”s house.
One victim of the heat was 48-year-old Richard Sims of Jefferson County, who died Monday while mowing a yard.
Earlier that day, Gulfport resident Melvin Caldwell, also 48, died of hyperthermia after he collapsed while spreading concrete on Mississippi Highway 613 in coastal Moss Point.
